A medieval samurai family. A branch of the Miyoshi clan, who served as stewards of the Kamakura Shogunate. The names of Fuse Yasusada, Yasutaka, and Yukitada appear in the Kamakura period Azuma Kagami, and from the early period of the Northern and Southern Courts, Fuse Suemura, Motomura, Shocho, Tsunezumi, Sadamoto, Tamemoto, Kiyomoto, and Hidemoto served as magistrates in the Muromachi Shogunate. They served as magistrates in front of the emperor and in charge of important temples and shrines. In the late Muromachi period, the Fuse clan's estates were widely distributed in mountain castles (within the grounds of Hoshogon-in Temple, Takagishi in Kamono, and the Umemiya Shrine Gokatsubun). The clan can also be found in Mino, Mikawa, Sagami, and other provinces. Although not part of this clan, the Fuse clan also exists in Yamato Province (descendants of Emperor Ojin, descendants of the ancient Fuse clan, and a powerful clan in Kuzuno County, Yamato Province), Omi Province (the Ika family name, originating from Fuse in Ika County, Omi Province), and Shinano Province (originating from Fuse in Sarashina County).
