A political event in 19th century Russia. Famous for having been involved with Dostoevsky. Around 1844, young intellectuals began to gather at the home of Mikhail Vasil'evich Petrashevskii (1821-66), a translator at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and from the autumn of 1845, they met weekly to discuss issues, calling themselves the "Friday Society." The subjects of their research included the works of the French utopian socialist Fourier and the German progressive philosopher LA Feuerbach.
