...The fruits are edible, and sometimes cultivated for decorative purposes. The genus Freycinetia (English name climbing screw-pine) has about 60 species distributed from Southeast Asia to Australia and the Pacific Islands, and in Japan, the species Tsurudako (F. boninensis Nakai) is found on the Ogasawara Islands. It is distinguished from Tsurudako by its wider leaves and toothed leaf edges.
