Bednîy (English spelling) Демьян Бедный/Dem'yan Bednîy

Russian poet. His real name was Efim Alekseevich Pridvorov. Born into a poor peasant family in southern Russia, he served in the military before graduating from St. Petersburg University. In 1912 he joined the Russian Communist Party and wrote a series of propaganda poems for Pravda and other party publications. His post-revolutionary poetry collections include In the Ring of Fire (1918), The Promised Land (1920), The Bearded Comrade (1926), and The Heroic Event (1937). All of his poems sing of the revolution and the construction of socialism in simple terms, earning him the title of "Poet Laureate of the Revolution."

ロシアの詩人。本名エフィム・アレクセービッチ・プリドボロフЕфим　Алексеевич　Придворов／Efim Alekseevich Pridvorov。南ロシアの貧農に生まれ、軍隊勤務を経てペテルブルグ大学を卒業。1912年ロシア共産党に入党。一連のプロパガンダ詩を『プラウダ』その他の機関紙に書いた。革命後の詩集に『火の輪の中で』（1918）、『約束の地』（1920）、『ひげの同志』（1926）、『英雄的出来事』（1937）などがある。いずれも革命や社会主義建設を平易に歌い、「革命の桂冠(けいかん)詩人」の称がある。
