Anti-Vietnam War Movement

Anti-Vietnam War movement (Second Indochina War from 1960 to 1975). Compared to previous anti-war movements, the anti-Vietnam War movement was far more outstanding in both quality and quantity. In particular, within the United States, a party to the war, the movement against its own war policy, including resistance within the military, was on a scale unprecedented except for that in Imperial Russia at the end of World War I. Furthermore, although no volunteer troops were sent, the actions of solidarity and support from peoples of other countries for the Vietnamese people fighting against the invasion far exceeded the scale of international support for the Spanish Civil War.

ベトナム戦争(1960‐75年にわたる第2次インドシナ戦争)に対する反戦運動。それまでの反戦運動に比し，ベトナム反戦運動は，質的にも量的にも，はるかに際だったものであった。とくに戦争当事国アメリカの中で，自国の戦争政策に反対して行われた運動は，軍隊内部での抵抗をも含めて，第1次世界大戦末期の帝政ロシアでのそれを除いては前例のない規模であったし，また侵略と戦うベトナム人民に対する各国人民の連帯･支援の行動も，義勇軍派遣こそなかったが，スペイン内乱への国際的支援の規模をはるかに上回った。
