Basmachestvo (English spelling)

Japanese: バスマチ運動 - バスマチうんどう（英語表記）Basmachestvo

An armed struggle against the Soviet regime by Muslims in Central Asia after the October Revolution. Led by landlords, wealthy peasants, and Islamic monks, it was supported by the White Guard and foreign interventionists such as Britain, America, Turkey, and others. Armed struggle began in Kokand at the end of 1917 and spread throughout Central Asia. During that time, Enver Pasha of Turkey joined the movement, but by around 1926 it had been suppressed by the Red Army and the local Soviet regime. However, Basmachi invaded from abroad even in the 1930s. The word Basmachi comes from the Turkish word basmak (to attack).

十月革命後，中央アジアに起ったイスラム教徒のソビエト政権に反対する武力闘争。イギリス，アメリカ，トルコ，その他の外国干渉勢力や白衛軍の援助を受け，地主，富農，イスラム僧侶などが指導した。 1917年末にコカンドにおいて武力闘争が始り，中央アジア各地に普及し，その間にトルコのエンベル・パシャがこの運動に加わったりしたが，26年頃までに赤軍や現地ソビエト政権によって鎮圧された。しかし，その後 30年代になっても外国からバスマチの侵入があった。バスマチはトルコ語のバスマク basmak (攻撃する) に由来する。
