A city in southern Aichi Prefecture facing Chita Bay. It was incorporated as a city in 1948. It occupies the right bank of the mouth of the Yahagi River and is divided into four districts: Shinkawa, famous for its specialty Sanshu tiles; Ohama and Tanao, port towns with brewing, weaving, and foundry industries; and Asahi, an area for growing nursery trees, flowers, and vegetables. The Meitetsu Mikawa Line runs through the city. Kinuura Port was designated an important port in 1957, and in 1973 the Kinuura Undersea Tunnel was opened between Kinuura and Handa City on the opposite bank. Together with Handa City, it forms the Kinuura Coastal Industrial Area. In terms of the value of manufactured goods shipped, the transportation equipment industry accounts for approximately 60% (2003). 36.68 ^km2 . 72,018 people (2010).

愛知県南部，知多湾に臨む市。1948年市制。矢作(やはぎ)川河口右岸を占め，特産の三州瓦で有名な新川，港町で醸造・織物・鋳物業の行われる大浜と棚尾，苗木・花卉(かき)・野菜栽培地の旭の４地区に分かれる。名鉄三河線が通じる。衣浦(きぬうら)港が1957年重要港湾に指定され，1973年には対岸の半田市との間に衣浦海底トンネルが開通し，半田市とともに衣浦臨海工業地域を形成している。製造品出荷額では輸送用機器工業が約６割（2003）を占めている。36.68km²。７万2018人（2010）。
