Self-reliance - Zi-li geng-sheng (English spelling)

In China, this refers to carrying out socialist revolution and construction mainly through one's own efforts. It was advocated by the Chinese Communist Party during the Yan'an period, and was consistently advocated throughout the Anti-Japanese War, the postwar civil war, and after the establishment of the People's Republic of China, and has been emphasized as one of the basic guidelines for individuals, groups, and the nation. Before liberation, it was advocated mainly from the perspective of criticizing the Kuomintang's policy of dependence on the United States and Britain. After liberation, it was assumed that aid from the Soviet Union would be based on a policy of one-sided devotion to the Soviet Union, and it was argued that aid from the United States and Britain was not for the Chinese people and therefore should not be relied upon. However, after the withdrawal of Soviet engineers in July 1960 when the Sino-Soviet conflict surfaced, self-reliance was advocated for China to become independent not only from imperialist countries but also from the socialist Soviet Union, and self-reliance was also advocated for the Soviet Union. Models of this included Dazhai in agriculture and Daqing in industry.
