A Chinese classicist in the late Qing dynasty. His courtesy name was Shenju. He was from Wujin County, Jiangsu Province (formerly Changshu Prefecture). He inherited the academic style of his maternal grandfather Zhuang Cunyou and his uncle Zhuang Shuzu (1750-1816), and established the Changzhou Gongyang School as his family school. Previous Gongyang scholars did not necessarily try to interpret the text of the Gongyang Zhuan based on He Xiu's annotations, but Liu Fenglu actively praised He Xiu's theory. His representative work is "He's Commentary on the Spring and Autumn Annals of Gongyang," which is said to have been the work he poured his heart and soul into, and other works from this perspective include "He's Commentary on the Spring and Autumn Annals of Gongyang," "Questions," "Pictures on Fa Mo Shu," "What Did Gu Liang Lose Disease Say?" and "What Did the Analects of Confucius Say?" Also noteworthy is "Zuo's Biography," which includes additions by Liu Xin, and "Zuo's Study of the Spring and Autumn Annals," which argues that it is not an authentic interpretation of the Spring and Autumn Annals. He himself was a scholar of the classics, but his learning was passed down to Gong Zizhen, Wei Yuan, and others, and had a great influence on the intellectual world of the late Qing dynasty. His main works are included in "Libushu." [Nobutoshi Ishiguro March 18, 2016] [Reference items] | | | |Source: Shogakukan Encyclopedia Nipponica About Encyclopedia Nipponica Information | Legend |
