Window dressing - Window dressing
A deposit in which a bank inflates the deposit balance beyond the actual amount. Also known as window dressing. This is done by not withdrawing a check from a deposit account on the same day it is brought back from the clearing house, but the next day, or by leaving a loan repayment on the deposit for one day.
