Tongling

Japanese: 銅陵 - どうりょう

A provincial city on the south bank of the Yangtze River in southern Anhui Province, China. It also has jurisdiction over the suburban Tongling County. It has an area of 1,019 ^km2 (119 ^km2 of which is urban), with a population of 650,000 (310,000 of which is urban) (1994). It is the terminus of the Nanjing-Tongling Railway (Nanjing-Tongling). The urban area was separated from the Tongguanshan mining area in 1956, and Tongling County is located within the city. Located in low-lying marshes along the Yangtze River, it was not particularly well-located for transportation, so the establishment of a county was delayed, but during the Tang Dynasty the copper mines of Tongguanshan were developed and the Tongguan Works was established, and at the end of the Tang Dynasty Yi'an County was established.

中国，安徽省南部，長江(揚子江)南岸にある省直轄市。郊外の銅陵県をも管轄する。面積は1019km²(うち市区119km²)，人口は65万(うち市区31万)(1994)。南京より通ずる寧銅鉄道(南京～銅陵)の終点。市区は1956年，銅官山鉱区を独立させたもので，市内に別に銅陵県がある。長江沿岸の低湿地であり，とくに交通位置にも恵まれなかったため県の設置は遅れたが，唐に銅官山の銅鉱が開発され銅官場が設けられ，唐末には義安県が置かれた。
