Noburo Ohfuji

Japanese: 大藤信郎 - おおふじのぶろう

1900-1961 An animation creator from the Taisho and Showa periods.
Born on June 1, 1900. In 1926, he released the animation "The Thieves of Baguda Castle" using chiyogami paper. In 1927, his shadow puppet film "The Whale" received acclaim overseas. In 1956, he won a special prize at the Venice Documentary Film Festival for "Ghost Ship." He also received the Ofuji Award at the Mainichi Film Awards. He passed away on July 28, 1961. He was 61 years old. He was from Tokyo. His real name was Shinshichiro. His works include "The Whale."

明治33年6月1日生まれ。大正15年千代紙によるアニメ「馬具田城の盗賊」を発表。昭和2年影絵映画「鯨」が海外で評価をうける。31年「幽霊船」でベネチア記録映画祭特別賞。毎日映画コンクールに「大藤賞」がもうけられている。昭和36年7月28日死去。61歳。東京出身。本名は信七郎。作品に「くじら」など。
