Japanese: 紛失状 - ふんしつじょう

A style of ancient document from medieval Japan. It is a document that is created to publicly announce the loss of a document due to theft, fire, etc., and to take over the effect of the lost document. Many of them are related to land deeds, and consist of two elements: an application document that records the date and cause of the loss, invalidates the old document, and issues a new document, and a signature by the person against whom the loss was made. The prototype of the lost document is the lost diary, which is a type of incident diary (a public record in which the details and date of an incident are recorded on the day of the incident, and the local county governor or sword official adds a signature), and is intended to record various lost property such as movable property, buildings, and documents.

日本中世の古文書の一様式。盗難，焼失などによる文書紛失の事実を公示し，亡失文書の効力を引き継ぐことを目的として新たに作成された文書をいう。多くは土地証文に関するもので，紛失の日時･原因を記し，旧文書の無効と新文書の発効を告知する申請文書と，被申請者による証判の二つの要素からなっている。紛失状の原型は紛失日記であり，紛失日記とは事発日記(事件発生の当日に，事件の内容･日時などを記録し，在地の郡司･刀禰（とね）などが証判を加えた公的記録)の一種で，動産，建物，文書などのさまざまな亡失財物の記録を眼目としたものである。
