French violinist. Also known as Francescatti. Born in Marseille. He began studying under his father, who was a disciple of Paganini, at the age of three, and showed precocious talent. He studied under Thibaud in Paris and became acquainted with M. Ravel. He made his debut in Paris in 1925, and traveled around Europe and the US, increasing his fame. After World War II, he settled in New York, where he performed with pianist Casadesus and others.
