The Jogan Era - Joganseiyo

Japanese:
The Jogan Era - Joganseiyo

A compilation of political discussions between Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty, China, and his ministers, including Wei Zheng and Fang Xuanling, divided into 40 sections, including The Way of the Emperor, Political Form, Wisdom, and Seeking Admonition. 10 volumes. Written by Wu Jing of the Tang Dynasty. Emperor Taizong Li Shimin, known as a great ruler, devoted himself to domestic stability and the restoration of people's power, creating an era of peace known as the Zhenguan era, but he also liked to listen to advice and prevented himself from becoming tyrannical. This book was written during the reigns of Emperors Zhongzong and Xuanzong, who experienced the chaos of the Wuwei disaster, with the intention of making Emperor Taizong's governance a model for others. According to one theory, the first version was created and presented to Jungjong, and then the second version was created at the beginning of the Kaiyuan era (713-741), which was revised and presented to Xuanzong and made public. Since then, it has been widely read in China, Korea, and Japan as a textbook for rulers of the old era. The second version was edited and annotated by Ge Zhong at the end of the Yuan era, and is a collection of critical essays on the book by intellectuals from the Song dynasty, but it is said to contain many errors and omissions, and the order of the chapters is different from that of the original. Harada Taneshige created the "Zhenguan Zheng Yaojihon" (1962) based on copies of the Tangsho version handed down in Japan, and corrected the errors in Ge Zhong's version.
