A headgear for women found in Central America. Originally called huipili, the name is from the Nahuatl language. This garment is made by simply folding a rectangular piece of woven cloth, leaving a collar hole in the middle, and sewing the sides. It can be worn down to the waist or below the knee. Decorations characteristic of each region are woven or embroidered. A wrap skirt is worn underneath, reaching down to the ankles, and when it is cold, a triangular shawl called a qetchiquemitl or rebozo is worn over the front and back.
