Born: December 17, 1796 in Windsor, Nova Scotia [Died] August 27, 1865. Middlesex, Canada. He was a satirist. He made a name for himself with The Clockmaker; or, The Sayings and Doings of Samuel Slick of Slickville (1835-36), which contrasted the shrewd American Sam Slick with the honest Nova Scotian. In his later years, he moved to England and served as a member of Parliament for several years.
