A medieval samurai family in Izumo. A branch of the Omi Genji Sasaki clan. Sasaki Hideyoshi played an active role on the side of the shogunate in the Jisho-Juei civil war, and his fifth son, Yoshikiyo, was appointed as the shugo of Izumo and Oki, building up his influence, and his descendants inherited the title of shugo of both provinces. Yoshikiyo's grandson, Yoritsune, was based in Shioya-go, Kamimon County, Izumo Province, and called himself Shioya Saemon-no-jo. The branch of Yoritsune's brother, Tokikiyo, became the shugo of Oki Province, while Yoritsune's descendants took the name of the Shioya clan, and Sadakiyo and Takasada inherited the title of shugo of Izumo Province. Shioya Hangan Takasada became the shugo of Izumo and Oki under the Kenmu government, but he committed suicide in 1341 (Kokoku 2 | Ryakuo 4), and many of his family members died.
