A British group at the pinnacle of rock. Vocalist Mick Jagger (1943- ), guitarist Keith Richards (1943- ), and Brian Jones (1942-69) were young people who loved rhythm and blues. They came into contact with guitarist Alexis Korner, who was the first British musician to start playing blues, and formed a group in 1962. They named the group after the song "Rolling Stone" by blues singer Muddy Waters.

ロックの頂点に位置するイギリスのグループ。ボーカルのミック･ジャガーMick Jagger(1943‐　)，ギターのキース･リチャーズKeith Richards(1943‐　)とブライアン･ジョーンズBrian Jones(1942‐69)ら，リズム･アンド･ブルース好きの若者が，イギリスで最初にブルースをやりだしたギター奏者アレクシス･コーナーとの接触の中で，1962年に一つのグループにまとまり，ブルース歌手マディ･ウォーターズの曲《ローリング･ストーン》にちなんでグループ名をつけた。
