This refers to statistics related to finance, such as currency, financial institution accounts, and trading conditions in the financial and securities markets. Financial statistics are primarily compiled as material for analyzing economic trends and financial analyses of financial institutions, and there is an extremely wide variety of types depending on the purpose. Most financial statistics are compiled based on financial institutions' business records, and most are complete surveys, so they are highly reliable as statistics. On the other hand, data is prone to discontinuity due to changes in financial systems and financial institutions' accounting methods, and there are many similar indicators that can be confusing, so great care must be taken when using them.

通貨，金融機関諸勘定，金融･証券市場の取引状況などの金融に関する諸統計を指す。金融統計は，主として経済動向分析や金融機関の財務分析の資料として作成されるもので，目的に応じて種類はきわめて多岐にわたっている。大半の金融統計は金融機関の業務記録を基にして作成されること，また大部分が全数調査であることから，統計としての信頼性は高い。反面，金融制度や金融機関の経理方式の変更等によってデータが不連続となりやすく，また類似の指標が多く紛らわしいので，利用に当たっては十分留意する必要がある。
