〘 noun 〙 A Shinto ritual in which offerings are made to birds (usually crows) and the will of the gods is ascertained by the way they peck at the offerings. At Shidoishi Shrine in Suo-Oshima Town, Oshima County, Yamaguchi Prefecture, the ritual was originally held from the 11th to the 14th of the first month of the lunar calendar. In Shikino, Iwakuni City, a similar event is held as a New Year's event at households on the 13th of the 9th lunar calendar, and in the Tohoku region on the 11th of the first day of the New Year, the first day of the New Year.
