Yarai (English spelling) palisade
A temporary enclosure made of bamboo or logs. A bamboo fence is made by joining bamboo pieces 2 to 3 meters long diagonally, with the intersections tied with palm rope or similar. A fence made by joining bamboo pieces crosswise is called a square fence. A log fence is also called a log fence, and is made by setting cut logs into the ground at intervals of about 30 meters, with the top and bottom of the posts connected by crosspieces.

竹や丸太で造った仮囲い。竹矢来は,長さ2~3mの竹を斜めに組合せ,交差部をしゅろ縄などで結ぶ。竹を縦横に直交して組んだものを角矢来という。丸太矢来は丸太柵ともいい,切丸太を約 30m間隔で掘立柱とし,この上部と下部を貫 (ぬき) でつなぐ。
