...The town has a high forest land ratio and is one of the centers of the Kitou forestry region, with many of the town's residents working in forestry. The town's specialty, yuzu, is sold nationwide under the name "Kitou Yuzu," and amago salmon farming is also thriving. In 1957, the Choankou Dam, a multipurpose gravity dam, was completed as the core of the Naka River Comprehensive Development Project.
