Japanese: 舟∥船 - ふね（英語表記）ship

A vehicle that carries people or things across the water. This is the general definition, but nowadays there are also submarines that operate under the water surface and air cushion ships that run on the water surface by using air pressure, and these are also broadly included in the term ship. Conventionally, the word "ship" is used for large things and "boat" for very small things. In addition, the word "ship" is used in regulations.

The earliest boats were broadly divided into three types of construction: (1) dugout canoes, (2) rafts, and (3) animal hide boats.

【船の歴史】
