The first Christian monarch of the Přemyslid dynasty of Bohemia. Reigned 921-929. A Catholic martyr. Grandson of Saint Ludmila. Son of Bratislav I. He consolidated control over Bohemia and Moravia, swore allegiance to the German king Henry I, and worked to Catholicize Bohemia. However, he was assassinated in 929 by a group led by his younger brother Boleslav I (reigned 929-967), who feared a German invasion of Bohemia. He was consecrated for his Christianization efforts and called a Saint Prince.

ボヘミアのプシェミスル朝の初代キリスト教君主。在位921‐929年。カトリックの殉教者。聖妃ルドミラの孫。ブラチスラフ1世の子。ボヘミア，モラビアの支配を固め，ドイツ王ハインリヒ1世に臣従を誓い，ボヘミアのカトリック化に努めた。しかしドイツのボヘミア侵略を恐れた弟ボレスラフ1世Boleslav I(在位929‐967)一派によって929年に暗殺された。キリスト教化の功により聖別をうけ，聖侯と呼ばれる。
