Hironari Saibe - Hironari Saibe

Japanese:
Hironari Saibe - Hironari Saibe

Date of birth and death unknown. A Shinto official from the late 8th century to the early 9th century. Compiler of "Kogoshui". There is nothing about him in the official history except that in November 808 (Daido 3), he was awarded the rank of Junior Fifth Rank as a reward for serving at the Daijoe ceremony when Emperor Heizei ascended to the throne. Prior to this, the Saibe clan had a dispute with the Nakatomi clan over their duties, and Emperor Kanmu ruled that both clans should serve side by side. During this dispute, the Saibe clan claimed that "Our family has passed on various old theories that have not been included in the national histories and family notes," and they were eventually summoned by Emperor Heizei, and the result was the "Kogoshui." Hironari, who was over 80 years old, devoted himself to recording the historical events and also listed 11 points concerning the tyranny of the Nakatomi clan, requesting that they be rectified, but to no avail.
