In-place leaching

Japanese: インプレースリーチング（英語表記）in‐place leaching

This is a method of leaching metals directly from the ore body on-site, instead of extracting the ore from the ore body and recovering the target metals through the processes of dressing and smelting. The yield is generally low, but because it significantly reduces the costs of mining and dressing, it is often applied to low-grade deposits that are not viable with normal methods, or to deposits where normal mining methods have been discontinued. In Japan, it has been used at the Tsuchihata copper mine in Iwate Prefecture. In-place leaching is premised on favorable geological conditions that allow the leachate that has dissolved the metals to be efficiently recovered.

鉱体から鉱石を採掘し，選鉱，製錬の工程を経て目的金属を回収する代りに，鉱体からその場で直接に金属を溶出させ，回収する方法をいう。収率は一般に低いが採鉱，選鉱などに要する経費が大幅に削減されるため，ふつうの方法では経営が成り立たないような低品位の鉱床や，ふつうの方法による採掘を終了した鉱床などに対し，しばしば適用される。日本では岩手県の土畑銅鉱山で行われたことがある。　インプレースリーチングにおいては，金属を溶出した浸出液が効率よく回収できるような地質条件に恵まれていることが前提となる。
