A foxhound. There are two types, one originating from the UK and the other from the USA. The English foxhound originated from a breed of hound used by royalty for fox hunting from around the 6th century, and was bred into its current form in the early 18th century. It was specially developed as a dog for fox hunting, and is extremely accurate at chasing foxes in the field, and also has speed and stamina. Its body shape is very similar to that of a pointer. Its coat is smooth and short, but has some coarse hair mixed in.

キツネ猟犬。原産地がイギリスのものとアメリカのものの2種がある。　イングリッシュ･フォックスハウンドEnglish foxhoundは，6世紀ごろから王族たちがキツネ猟に用いたハウンド種から出発し，18世紀の初期に現在の姿に育種されたイヌである。キツネ猟専門のイヌとして作られ，猟野でキツネを追い出す能力はきわめて正確で，そのうえスピードとスタミナを兼備している。体形はポインターによく似る。被毛は滑らかな短毛であるが，粗剛な毛質を交じえている。
