Japanese: 真玉[町] - またま

A former town in Nishi-Kunisaki District, in the northwest of the Kunisaki Peninsula, Oita Prefecture. It occupies the Matama River and Usuno River basins, with rice paddies in the lowlands along the rivers and farmland on the gentle slopes of the mountains and coastal terraces. It produces rice, white onions, and shiitake mushrooms. It also produces horticulture in greenhouses, growing melons, strawberries, and persimmons. Aquaculture is also practiced. In March 2005, it was incorporated into Kakachi Town, Nishi-Kunisaki District, and Bungotakada City. 44.38 ^km2 . Population: 4,096 (2003).

大分県国東(くにさき)半島北西部，西国東郡の旧町。真玉川と臼野川の流域を占め，川沿いの低地は水田，山地の緩斜面と海岸段丘上は畑地で，米，白ネギ，シイタケを産する。メロン，イチゴ，花卉(かき)などの施設園芸も盛ん。養殖漁業も行う。2005年３月西国東郡香々地町と豊後高田市へ編入。44.38km²。4096人（2003）。
