Filter Press

Also known as a filter press. A device used in batch filtration operations. There are plate frame and concave plate types. Both have a thin space created using a plate frame or concave plate, with filter cloth placed at the boundary between them, which are then stacked and assembled. The slurry filling the space is filtered by applying pressure to the movable end plate, and the filter cake is deposited on the filter cloth, while the liquid is discharged outside the device. It is widely used because it can be used with many types of slurries and is simple in structure and handling, but it requires a lot of labor to operate. Currently, fully automatic types have also been developed.

圧濾器ともいう．回分式の濾過操作に用いられる装置．板枠型と凹板型とがある．いずれも薄い空間部を板枠または凹板によってつくり，それらの境界に濾布を設置したものを重ねて組み立てた構造をしている．空間部に満たされたスラリーは，可動端板に圧力を加えることによって濾過され，濾滓(ろさい)は濾布上に堆積し，液は装置外に排出される．多種のスラリーに適用でき，構造，取り扱いが簡単なため多く用いられているが，操作には多くの工数を要する．現在では，全自動型も開発されている．
