A town in Mishima County in northeastern Osaka Prefecture. It is the western gateway to the Kyoto Basin on the north bank of the Yodo River, and was once a key transportation and military location called Yamazaki. It faces Oyamazaki Town in Kyoto Prefecture. The Tokaido Main Line, Hankyu Kyoto Line, and National Route 171 (Saigoku Kaido) are all located here. In addition to spinning and liquor factories, there is the site of Sakurai Station (historic site), where Kusunoki Masashige and Masayuki bid farewell to their son, and Minase Shrine.
