C ₃₃ H ₃₄ N ₄ O ₆ (582.66). The main bile pigment in amphibians and birds, also called bile chlorophyll. It is a normal primary metabolic product of hemoglobin in the body and is synthesized by oxidation of bilirubin. It appears as dark green columnar or plate-like crystals with a purple sheen. It is stable even at temperatures above 300 °C. λ _max 392, 640 nm (methanol). Soluble in methanol, ether, chloroform, carbon disulfide, and benzene. The gmelin reaction is positive and the Ehrlich reaction is negative. It emits strong green fluorescence with zinc acetate and iodine. [CAS 114-25-0]

C₃₃H₃₄N₄O₆(582.66)．両生類や鳥類の胆汁色素の主成分で胆緑素ともいう．生体中でのヘモグロビンの正常一次代謝産物で，ビリルビンの酸化によって合成される．紫色の光沢をもつ，暗緑色の柱状または板状結晶．300 ℃ 以上でも安定である．λ_max 392，640 nm(メタノール)．メタノール，エーテル，クロロホルム，二硫化炭素，ベンゼンに可溶．グメリン反応は陽性，エールリヒ反応は陰性である．酢酸亜鉛とヨウ素で強い緑色蛍光を発する．[CAS 114-25-0]
