Pros Philippēsious; The Letter to the Philippians

Japanese: ピリピ人への手紙 - ピリピびとへのてがみ(英語表記)Pros Philippēsious; The Letter to the Philippians
Pros Philippēsious; The Letter to the Philippians
Also known as the Epistle to the Philippians. A book in the New Testament, it is a prison letter from Paul to the church of the Philippians. Philippi in Macedonia was the first city in Europe where Paul established a church, and Paul felt a particular affinity with the Christians of this city. He "emptied himself, took the form of a servant, and was made in human likeness" (2:7) and "was obedient even to the death of the cross" (chap. 8). He rejoiced with them in their faith in Christ, and, thanking them for sharing the gospel together, he exhorted them to fight for the gospel faith with one heart. Although it was a prison letter, it is called the "Epistle of Joy" because it is filled with the joy of faith in the hope of Christ's second coming and his own resurrection, and because it expresses a stronger conviction in righteousness through faith.
