[Died] October 25, 1993. Los Angeles, California. American actor. Full name: Vincent Leonard Price. One of the leading actors in the American horror film world. His father was the owner of a confectionery company, and his grandfather the inventor of baking powder. He graduated from Yale University in 1933. He enrolled at the University of London to obtain a master's degree in fine arts, but soon became interested in acting and decided to pursue a career as an actor. He made his stage debut in London in 1934, and then moved to Broadway. He made his film debut in 1938. He got his big break with House of Wax (1953), one of the early 3D films, and established himself as the king of horror films. He contributed to the revival of the popularity of horror films with a string of hits, including The Fly (1958) and House on Haunted Hill (1958). In the 1960s, he appeared in a series of films directed by Roger Corman, based on short stories by Edgar Allan Poe. He terrified audiences with films such as The House of Usher (1960). He was also known as an art collector, and donated much of his collection to East Los Angeles Community College in 1951. He also co-authored several cookbooks with his second wife and appeared on cooking shows.

Died April 19, 1791. An intellectual and political leader of the British Dissenters near London. He first served as a Presbyterian minister and wrote moral treatises. He later discussed financial and political issues, and in the 1770s advocated reducing the national debt and opposed the war with America. He was a friend of B. Franklin, corresponded with A. Turgot, and was under the protection of Shelburne. On November 4, 1789, he delivered a sermon praising the French Revolution and criticizing the Glorious Revolution in England, which was criticized by E. Burke in his Reflections on the Revolution in France.

Born January 19, 1852 in Brymbo, England
[Died] May 31, 1909. Hawthorn, Australia. Australian politician. After graduating from Penny School in Liverpool, England, he became a stonemason and settled in South Australia in 1883. He served as Secretary of the Stonemasons and Bricklayers Union (1891-93) and other positions, before entering politics in 1893. In 1901 he became leader of the South Australian Labor Party and led the labor movement. He was Premier of South Australia from 1905 to 1909, and during his term he led Australia's first stable Labor government.
