Kyoritsu Girls' School

...The first of these was the high school attached to Tokyo Women's Normal School (the predecessor of Ochanomizu University) in 1882. The school was renamed Tokyo Women's School from Kyoritsu Girls' School, which was established by the Ministry of Education in 1871 (Meiji 4). It was abolished once, but changed into the English department, special department, preparatory department, etc. of Tokyo Women's Normal School before becoming the attached high school. Its position in the system became clear when the revision of the Middle School Act in 1891 stipulated that high schools for girls should provide "higher general education required for girls" at the level of ordinary middle schools.
