Estrildidae

...They are hardy, seed-eating birds that are easy to keep and are sometimes imported as pets. The family Estrildidae is distributed from Africa to Southeast Asia, New Guinea, Australia, and the islands of the South Pacific, and about 125 species are known. Many of them have bright plumage, with colors such as red, green, blue, yellow, and mauve.
