An ancient place name in the southwest of Asuka Village, Takaichi County, Nara Prefecture. The Yamato no Aya clan, a group of immigrants also known as Imiki, lived here. According to the article in the September entry of the 20th year of the reign of Emperor Ojin in the Nihon Shoki and the report of Sakanoue no Karita Maro in the April entry of the 3rd year of the reign of Emperor Hoki (772) in the Shoku Nihongi, Achi no Omi and his son Tsuka no Omi, who came from Baekje during the reign of Emperor Ojin, settled in Hinokuma Village, and their descendants prospered and came to be known as Imikima no Ikimi. 奈良県高市郡明日香村南西部の古代地名。檜隈忌寸(いみき)とも称される渡来系集団,東漢(やまとのあや)氏が集中して居住した。《日本書紀》応神20年9月条の記事や,《続日本紀》宝亀3年(772)4月条の坂上苅田麻呂の奏言によれば,応神朝に百済から渡来した阿知使主(あちのおみ)やその子の都加使主(つかのおみ)らが檜隈邑に住みつき,その子孫が栄えて檜隈忌寸と称されるに至ったという。雄略朝からは,さらに新来の渡来系の人々すなわち今来漢人(新漢人)(いまきのあやひと)もこの地に住むようになった。
