A former town in Ena County, southeastern Gifu Prefecture. The central Iwamura Village is located in a small basin in the Tono Mountains and developed as a castle town. The Akechi Railway runs from Ena City. Agriculture, silk reeling, and lumbering are thriving, and agar is a specialty of the town. In October 2004, it was incorporated into Ena City along with Yamaoka Town, Akechi Town, Kamiyahagi Town, and Kushihara Village in Ena County. 34.36 km2 . 5,621 people (2003). 岐阜県南東部,恵那(えな)郡の旧町。中心の岩村は東濃(とうのう)山地中の小盆地にあり城下町として発達,恵那市から明知(あけち)鉄道が通じる。農業と製糸・製材業が盛んで,寒天を特産。2004年10月恵那郡山岡町,明智町,上矢作町,串原村と恵那市へ編入。34.36km2。5621人(2003)。
