The name of a palace in the Heian Palace. It is also called Fudono. It is located south of Seiryoden, has a cypress bark roof, is a main building nine bays from north to south and two bays from east to west, and faces east with eaves on all four sides. The main building is also called Osamedono, and books from past generations were kept there. In 810 (Kōnin 1), the Kurododokoro was established to manage the Kurodo and handle documents, and later took control of all affairs at the palace. In the north wing was the Shimosaburai (waiting room for the Kurodo and others), and on the north side of the west wing were the waiting rooms for the Shutsuno (a position in the Kurodosho that handled the receipt and delivery of documents and miscellaneous items) and Kodoneri (a person who ran miscellaneous tasks for the palace), and on the south side was the Koshodokoro, which managed the Koshoden. On the south side of the East Room was the Ukon'e Jinza, which, together with the Sakon'e Jinza in the East Corridor of the Shishinden, was the location of Jogi (a meeting where nobles discussed government affairs).
