Pan-Africanism is an ideological movement that was created in the late 19th century by African intellectuals in the United States and the Caribbean, and grew and developed mainly in Europe and the United States before World War II, and after the war, combined with African nationalism and was mainly in Africa. It aims to restore the autonomy of Africans and people of African descent, and to restore Africa's historical power, independence and unity. パン・アフリカニズムとは,19世紀末にアメリカ合衆国やカリブ海地域のアフリカ系知識人によって生み出され,第2次世界大戦前は主として欧米各地を舞台に,戦後はアフリカ・ナショナリズムと結合して,おもにアフリカを舞台として,成長,発展した〈アフリカ人,アフリカ系人の主体性の回復およびアフリカの歴史的復権,独立と統一〉を目ざすイデオロギー運動である。 その前半期すなわち第2次世界大戦以前の時期には,運動はパン・アフリカ会議を主軸として展開された。
