A movement that has been undertaken since the end of the 19th century by the United States and Latin American countries to strengthen mutual ties in the Americas. After World War II, a regional cooperation system was formed centered on the Organization of American States (OAS). The idea of the nations of the Americas being one and the movement for concrete integration had already emerged in the early 19th century through the Monroe Doctrine and the Panama Conference, which was held at the initiative of S. Bolivar, but it was with the First International Conference of American States, held in Washington from late 1889 to early 1890, at the initiative of the United States, that the Pan-American movement really took shape. International Conference of American Stateであった。
