Paros inscription - Paros inscription

Japanese: パロス島碑文 - パロスとうひぶん
Paros inscription - Paros inscription
A marble slab chronicle erected on the island of Paros in the Cyclades during the Hellenistic period. Its common name in Latin is Marmor Parium (meaning "Marble of Paros"). Only two fragments remain, both of which are extremely valuable. One was taken from Smyrna (Izmir) to London in 1627 and is now kept at Oxford University, while the other was discovered in Paros in 1897 and is in the museum on the island. It lists political and cultural events from the time of Kekrops, believed to be the first Athenian king, to the author's own time (264 or 263 BC), counting backwards from his own time.
