Kaptol (English spelling)
The name of the district east of the old town in the center of Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. It originated as a medieval religious city where Hungarian King Ladislaus I established a bishopric at the end of the 11th century. In the 17th century, it merged with the neighboring Gradec and came to be called Zagreb.
