A politician from the Meiji and Taisho periods. Born in Tokyo. Born as the third son of Count Oki Takatoshi. He succeeded to the peerage in 1899 (Meiji 32). In 1907, during a by-election to vacate the position of count in the House of Peers, he ran against a candidate from the clan faction, but lost. He founded the Count Comrades Association and advocated breaking down the factions. He was elected in a by-election in 1908 and became a member of the House of Peers. Thereafter, as a leader of the counts, he was close to the Seiyukai Party, and from 1920 (Taisho 9), he served as Minister of Justice in both the Hara Kei and Takahashi Korekiyo cabinets, and Minister of Railways in the Kato Tomosaburo cabinet. <Works> "My Ambitions" and "A Boy's Spirit" <References> Ito Tadashi, "Count Oki Tokichi," Dai Nippon Kokusakukai Kaiho, "Ah, President Count Oki"

明治大正期の政治家。東京府出身。伯爵大木喬任の3男として生まれる。明治32(1899)年,襲爵。40年,貴族院伯爵議員補欠選挙に際し,藩閥系候補者に対抗して立候補したが破れ,伯爵同志会を起こして閥族打破を唱えた。41年の補欠選挙に当選,貴族院議員となる。以後,伯爵議員の指導者として政友会に近い立場にあり,大正9(1920)年以降,原敬,高橋是清両内閣の司法大臣,加藤友三郎内閣の鉄道大臣をそれぞれ務めた。<著作>『我が抱負』『男児の意気』<参考文献>伊東正『大木遠吉伯』,大日本国粋会会報『噫総裁大木伯爵』
