Paraguay [River] - Paraguay
A river in central South America. It is about 2,550 km long. It originates in the Mato Grosso Plateau in Brazil, flows south along the border between Paraguay and Brazil, passes through Asuncion, flows south along the border with Argentina, and empties into the Paraná River. The middle reaches are occupied by a large marshland called the Pantanal. The Pilcomayo and Bermejo are the main tributaries.

南米中部の川。全長約2550km。ブラジルのマトグロッソ台地に発し，パラグアイとブラジルの国境を流れて南下。アスンシオンを通過してアルゼンチンとの国境を南流してパラナ川に注ぐ。中流域はパンタナルと呼ばれる大湿原で占められる。ピルコマヨ，ベルメホなどがおもな支流。
