Surveillance Labor - Kanshiroudo

This is a typical type of modern industrial labor that has spread since the 1960s to steel mills, chemical plants, and oil refineries. It is labor that complements the functions based on the automatic control of automated equipment to ensure its stable operation. Specific duties include monitoring instruments in the control room, adjusting instruments to within the range of "normal values," patrol inspections of each part of the equipment, recording the operating status, and dealing with emergency abnormalities that may occur on rare occasions. Compared to the "assembly work" found in conveyor belt workplaces, monitoring work certainly consists of more diverse actions and is performed at a more intermittent and autonomous work pace.

1960年代以降の製鉄所，化学工場，石油精製所などに普及した現代の工業労働の代表的な一類型。オートメーション装置の自動制御にもとづく機能を，その安定した稼働にむけて補完する労働である。制御室での計器の監視，〈正常値〉の範囲内への計器の調整，装置各パートのパトロール点検，操業状態の記録，そして，まれに生じかねない緊急異常事態への対処などが，職務の具体的な内容をなす。監視労働は，コンベヤ職場などにみる〈流れ作業〉にくらべれば確かに，より多様な動作からなり，より断続的，より自律的な作業ペースで行われている。
