1253‐1325 An Indian Persian poet. Known as the "Parrot of India," he was also famous as a musician. He was active under the reigns of the Slave Dynasty, the Khalji Dynasty, and the Tughluq Dynasty, and wrote a five-part romantic epic poem modeled after Nizami, as well as odes and historical epics. He also left behind many riddles and poems in early Urdu, which was then called Hindi or Hindabi. He is also known as an ardent follower of the Sufi saint Nizamuddin.
