Heat transfer printing

Japanese:
Heat transfer printing
This is a very special type of textile printing technique in which a textile product is attached to transfer paper made by printing dyes on paper, and then heat is applied to transfer the dye from the paper to the textile product. A similar technique is wet thermal transfer, in which dyes or pigments are transferred from the transfer paper and then wet heating such as steaming is used to develop the color, but dry thermal transfer, in which disperse dyes are dry heated and transferred by sublimation, is important. Historically, it was developed by the French company Masseur in 1958, and since then, with the selection of disperse dyes and the ingenuity of binders and dispersants, this dry thermal transfer technique has been well received for its simplicity, good reproducibility, energy saving, and ease of availability, and it has become possible to purchase transfer paper made by a printing company and transfer colors at home with an iron.
