Early planting cultivation - Hayauesaibai

Japanese: 早植栽培 - はやうえさいばい

This is a cultivation method in which crops are transplanted earlier than normal, and is often used in the context of rice cultivation. A similar method of rice cultivation is early cultivation, which is popular in warm areas of southwestern Japan, but early planting cultivation is popular in cold areas, mainly in the Tohoku region, and its purpose is different from early cultivation. In cold areas, rice, a crop of tropical origin, has a limited period in which it can grow, and there is a risk of exposure to severe low temperatures, especially at the beginning and end of the growing season. The insulation hybrid nursery that became popular after World War II and various protective nurseries using vinyl materials that appeared later made it possible to grow healthy seedlings under the cold weather conditions of early spring, and made early planting cultivation possible, with sowing and transplanting periods being brought forward by more than 20 days.

農作物を普通期より早めに移植して育てる栽培法のことで，水稲作でいわれることが多い。水稲作では類似するものに，西南日本の暖地に普及している早期栽培があるが，早植栽培は東北地方を中心に寒冷地に普及しているもので，その目的は早期栽培とは異なっている。寒冷地では熱帯起原の作物である水稲にとって生育可能な期間は限られており，とくに作期の始まりと終りの時期にはきびしい低温にさらされる危険が伴っている。第2次世界大戦後に普及した保温折衷苗代やその後出現するビニル資材を利用した各種の保護苗代は，寒冷な春先の気象条件下で健全な苗を育成することを可能にし，播種期ならびに移植期を20日以上早めた早植栽培を実現させた。
