sceptre

Japanese: sceptre
sceptre

…Hashaku (scepter) [Keizo Suzuki] [Masatoshi Sugimoto]
[Western]
The scepter is also a symbol of authority in the West, and has the meaning of the world tree or the axis mundi (both of which are symbols of the center where the sacred is manifested), and was considered to be the possession of a divine being who brings order to chaos. The origin of the English word sceptre, which means scepter, is the Greek word skēptron. Many are made of wood, and many have carvings or crown-shaped ornaments on the top, but there are also luxurious ones made of ivory or set with jewels.
